Проблеми лікування аутизму. У розділі, присвяченому аутизму, ми вже згадували про фундаментальні проблеми ті, що генералізують. Особливу трудність при обговоренні питань, пов'язаних з лікуванням цього розладу, представляють поняття тієї, що генералізує подразників (= перенесення на інші, не пов'язані з терапією ситуації) і стабільність результатів. Ефективність того або іншого лікування оцінюється по тому, в якому об'ємі виявляється придбана поведінка в різних навколишніх умовах і в поведінкових взаємозв'язках і чи залишається воно стабільним. Кегель і Кегель (Koegel & Koegel, 1987) рекомендують два шляхи підвищення тієї, що генералізує:
- Послідовна модифікація. В цьому випадку цілеспрямовано займаються тими способами поведінки, при яких до цих пір не відбувалося тієї, що генералізує. Тренінг проводиться по можливості з урахуванням всіх сфер навколишнього дитину середовища і до тих пір, поки не наступить та, що спонтанна генералізує. При такому підході значущі для дитини особи використовуються як ко-тренеры.
- Тренінг в реальних умовах. Передбачається, що природна для дитини обстановка найбільшою мірою придатна для того, щоб викликати правильні реакції і підвищити тим самим вірогідність тієї, що спонтанної генералізує на схожу поведінку і схожі ситуації. Ослаблення жорсткої зв'язаності стимулу з певною ситуацією відбувається за рахунок того, що використовуються природні матеріали і підкріплення з боку осіб, що оточують дитину в повсякденному житті
- Заходи по поліпшенню тієї, що генералізує. Природно, що у кожному конкретному випадку проблемної поведінки дитини є специфічні причини, по яких утруднена та, що генералізує результатів. Гольдштейн і Келлер (Goldstein & Keller, 1987) запропонували спеціальну допомогу для проведення психологічних заходів з агресивними дітьми. Деякі загальні рекомендації (по Goetz & Sailor, 1988) пропонуються в табл. 39.2.6.

- Підтримка способів поведінки, необхідних і бажаних в природному оточенні.
- Тренінг в різних умовах.
- Залучення до терапії значущих осіб і відповідного оточення (у школі і удома).
- Орієнтація на процеси, що виникають природним чином, а не на викликаних терапевтично.
- Залучення до терапії ровесників як реальні моделі.
Були розроблені також (Goetz & Sailor, 1988) конкретні заходи по мотивації дітей до освоєння і довготривалого застосування нової поведінки. З позицій психології розвитку передбачається, що навики генерализуются в тому випадку, якщо дитина розуміє їх необхідність. Освоювана поведінка повинна бути бажане і отримуватися в соціальному контексті, що включає взаємодії між людьми. Навик може виникнути тільки в конкретній ситуації, що вимагає від дитини цього навику (наприклад, приготування їжі на кухні). Дитина повинна часто використовувати навик; він повинен відповідати рівню його психологічного розвитку і зросту, а також робити його незалежним. Навики повинні бути такими, що адаптуються, тобто достатньо конкретними, щоб бути такими, що дізналися, і достатньо загальними, щоб їх можна було адаптувати до різних вимог.
