Будь-яка фізична активність повинна починатися з низького рівня інтенсивності та тривалості з поступовим збільшенням при покращенні стану. Фізична активність може акумулюватися протягом дня за кілька невеликих сеансів (тривалість кожного принаймні 10 хвилин) і не повинні виконуватися за один сеанс. Метою має бути поступове підвищення рівня активності для того, щоб відповідати рекомендаціям суспільного здоров'я щодо фізичної активності помірної інтенсивності 30 хвилин більшість днів на тиждень.
